Watchdog to check Google's joining banned info register in Feb

MOSCOW, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has repeatedly asked Google to get connected to a system of banned content screening and will check compliance with the requirement in late February, the authority’s press secretary Vadim Ampelonsky told PRIME on Tuesday.

“(Google) has 30 days to get connected from the moment of receipt of the request plus three days to start filtering content after joining the system. We’ll check it sometime at the end of February,” Ampelonsky said.

The watchdog fined Google with 500,000 rubles in December 2018 for violation of the law obliging search engines to filter search results for resources put on the register of banned information. Search engines must get connected to the register, but Google has not done that yet.
